Here are some of the three thousand photographs I took while in South Africa, Aug/Sept of 2004. The best are at the end, so hold tight while it loads! ~Cyndie

Hello from Mr Giraffe! Did you know you can tell the sex of a giraffe from the presence of or lack of the hair on the top of their horns? Which do you think this one is?
Hi Jeanne, This trip was my first attempt at using a DSLR, funny, I sold my hasselblad and ran off to South Africa with a Canon Rebel (1st edition) and my 100-300 IS lens. Talk about a learning curve, I had to figure the thing out on the fly, I missed a lot of great shots, after realizing that I needed a bit more time to figure the entire thing out, but at the time blamed the camera for some of it's short comings on pro features, I came home and sold it and bought a 20D.
Now a couple of years later, I have the 20D down, and realize that I could have probably done much of the same thing with the rebel. They are amazing cameras for entry into digital photography. Of course, I am ready for the 5D now (would much prefer the Mach1), just have to come up with the money for that somehow :), ah technology, gotta love it!

What an utterly gorgeous picture!! Can I be nosy and ask what camera & lens you were using?
